I agree that it could get some improvements but...
"unwanted edges" are not so. There is a surface break there (two levels, transition from 18 wide vs. 20 high for beams).

What about 48989.dat? The pins are similar but the holes aren't rectangular.

but I can't say what's the difference, 55615 has pins with squared holes for years.
