The cylc prim in the thin end create an unwanted edgeline
The rect prim on the handle create two unwanted edge lines

In fact, since you are rotating the handle subfile, more of the primitives could be moved into the sub.
Anything used twice here, could be in the subfile. You could even split the rect prim and only add one triangle in the subfile

It must be possible to simplify the extra conical, smaller ring/tooth/gear

Primitive cylc replaced with cyli + disc + edge.
Primitive rect replaced with rect2p.

I didn't understand how to simplify conical surfaces, perhaps not using primitives?
I did not understand the comment on the subfile, within this there are no primitive type rect.

I'd like to see this part redone for with flexible sections and proper naming.

Is that really necessary? It may be called Flexible but is never used in any other position than the one modeled here.
It is made from regular ABS and only bendable due to being thin. If you bend it too much it will deform or break.
