A help line for the correct placement on Donald's head should be added.

BTW: I get collision at Y = -32.7 in the front and a massive gap in the back. Changing to 32.6 or 32.5 will reduce the gap but results in a greater collision.

I would bring it down even further. y=32.1 is better. There's no gap between the real parts.
And yes, the real hat sits better in a 45 degree angle. It "wants" to have this rotated position.
But the default position in LDD is unrotated, and that gives a better fit between the both geometries.
