I'm not really happy with the shape of the transition between the hole and sloped area above.

Which version is this meant to be specifically?

Bricklink lists 3 different ones. I have at least 2 different ones. I will take a look later today.

I guess (only have the ones with short arms, a-version)
these have a total height of 9.2mm (23LDU)

Funny, never realized I had all three.

The original version (Bricklink 2609a) has a total height (with magnet) of 9mm.
The actual part itself is 7mm high, with the center of the clip hole at 5mm.

The "modern" version (Bricklink 2609b) has a total height of 9 mm and the actual part itself is also 9mm, making the magnet flush with the part's top (at least it looks like it).
The tricky bit is that version "b" doesn't have a circular clip hole. It is slightly stretched (couldn't find the correct translation for "Langloch" atm), with midpoints at 5mm and 6mm respectively. Thus the magnet can slide a bit up and down in the clip. It can also turn/swivel a bit, but due to the magnet's center axles barely being aligned correctly, this isn't very smooth.

The very rare variant (Bricklink 2609c) has a total height of 10mm (measured and tested - you can barely put a brick directly over it, but it doesn't fit right well). The actual part itself has the exact same height as type "b" at 9mm, but the clip is more similar to version "a", with a completely circular hole, but at a 6mm offset from the bottom. The magnet can turn/swivel quite smoothly in this clip (like in part 2607 for example), due to a noticeable gap between the bottom and the magnet.

Given the release time I somewhat suspect that the designer of the rare "c" version forgot to adjust the clip hole position when they made the "arms" longer for some reason. The mold then got altered a year or so later, resulting in the "langloch". Version "c" seems to have only appeared in 1995/1996 Aquazone sets (there probably is a red one out there, but it might be a prototype or something).

* We are getting nowhere with these three variants. I'd like to see a table here at the PT:

2609a: Distance Bottom->Hole, Distance Bottom-Top of the clip - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/44959
2609b: Distance Bottom->Hole, Distance Bottom-Top of the clip - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/24290
2609c: Distance Bottom->Hole, Distance Bottom-Top of the clip - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/24291

So that all three variants can be adjusted accordingly.

* The clip in a should be subbed as well

* @Rene, you cannot just submit an updated magnet:

https://library.ldraw.org/parts/44957

without obsoleting all the old parts of the magnet.

0 !LPE DISTANCE 272 -20 0 9 -20 0 9

0 !LPE DISTANCE 25 -20 -14.5 1 -20 -14.5 -1

This should use the same arm sub-part as 2609a and 2607.

Not sure I understand.
This is modelled under the assumption that version a/d has a correct arm height at 19.5 LDU.

If this got 0.5 LDU higher, Magnet would be at 1.1 mm (from bottom), which would be too high.

Any changes made to height here will affect all 3 versions.

you said this one with magnet is 10,4mm (26LDU), which results in a magnet position of -9.25 (instead of -8,75 now)
