57029 RELEASE HOUSE 6X2X2 should not include the front cap ("LID" in official parlance), which this does.

This's a mechanical assembly. It is necessary for LDD to LDraw conversion and as an easy way to have its three parts together so you only have to add the trigger in the position you want (armed / shot).

The ID is the one used in LDD for the same assembly (except LDD doesn't have springs). LDD's IDs are often wrong (subpart for assembly), so if you know the proper ID, the ID can still be corrected.

I do have correct IDs, that's why I'd want to see this fixed. It's always (since James Jessiman) been my job to try the keep the numbers accurate. I don't always get listened to, but I always try to speak up when I see issues.

The part being modeled _here_ is technically a combination of 32074 and 32067, which are both parts of
76100 RELEASE HOUSING = 32074 + 32075 + 32067 + 71830

57029 (which is a different molding from what you have here) takes the place of 32074 in a newer version

57796 RELEASE HOUSING 6X2X2 = 57029 + 57759 + 32075 + 71830

Even without the cap (32067), this part (32074) without the cap is not an accurate representation of 57029 (and 32067 is not an accurate representation of 57759, for that matter).

The item (assembly) modeled in LDD is 57796, 57029 and 57759 are accurate in LDD.

Okay, so it's not "57029 should not include the lid," it's "this is the number of a subpart of a different variant" :)

I hadn't noticed it was the wrong variant with regard to LDD but the assembly is still relevant. So, what about 31074c01 for this one?

(BTW, the LDD assembly of the whole cannon is 57796, with 61280 (not 57759) as number for the catch/trigger subpart and 57029 for the body, lid included. I'll stand by my "LDD's IDs are often wrong." ;) )

"57796 RELEASE HOUSING 6X2X2 = 57029 + 57759 + 32075 + 71830"

Thanks for this information. I've been planning on modeling the newer cannon soon. In fact, I have a specimen on my desk right now and I can verify first-hand that the new cannon has 57029 written on it.

Can you specify which of the other components is which? 32075 is obviously the trigger and I'm aware that it's reused.

SLS, I was quoting the LEGO database, not LDD. LDD DOES show the proper number for the assembly (57796) to the user (not 57029), I have no idea what you're when it's exported.

arezy, I laid out the two lists above in the same order between the two assemblies, but just to be clear:
57796 RELEASE HOUSING 6X2X2, ASS. is a newer 76100 RELEASE HOUSING

57029 RELEASE HOUSE 2X6X2 (57796) corresponds to 32074 RELEASE HOUSING, CYLINDER (76100)
57759 LID FOR RELEASE HOUSE (57796) corresponds to 32067 RELEASE HOUSING, COVER (76100)
61280 RELEASE HOUSING, CATCH (57796) corresponds to 32057 RELEASE HOUSING, CATCH (76100)
71830 RELEASE HOUSING, SPRING is the same on both parts

You can see the component parts of an assembly (aka subparts) when you enable the extended tips (is that a developper mode only option? I forget).
You can also see them in the LIF.
And you can search for them (57029 or 61280 will give you 57796, 57759 will give you nothing).

The (57029+55759) subassembly is called 57029 in LDD. They just use one ID, they don't create another one like we can do with c## suffixes.
Besides, some variants aren't recognised or are dumped together as aliases.
That's why I say IDs are often wrong in LDD.

When exporting, LDD exports the subparts. When importing, LDD imports the subparts and then reassemble them into the corresponding assembly (it makes for funny pairs when you have multiple assemblies with the same subparts, like all the electric parts with separate plugs).
That's why I need to know the ID used by LDD.
And that's why I used LDD's ID for this part, without noticing it wasn't the right variant we had in LDraw.

Anyway, all that is just explanation, not justification. As I said, I propose to rename that part 31074c01. If no one argues against it, I'll submit the changes in a few days.
