Why is the origin where it is? Somewhere (randomly?) in the middle of the body.
Maybe it should be in the cylinder?

it is more or less in the centre, as it cannot snap to the studs, like the old snake, it loosely can sit on tuds, so I put it in a way that when positioned it is - on grid - where it.

IMHO, I don't think the bar at the tail is a good idea for the origin

check this, it is basically aligned with the old one.

May be move it by -5 to exactly match the old snake, that I can understand

I don't see a reason why it should be aligned along the bar
