"No, Lewa, that's not a mask. Wearing it on your face is not healthy for you."

I really don't know about how to go with the author line since this is a joint effort one. I still think we should allow multiple author lines because of things like this.

The part number makes me wonder. Apparently both the Krana and the Krana holder use 42042?

The name "Su" is the name of this particular Krana in the Bionicle canon (which is like TLG-level official) so I used that.

When I said it was safe to use 42042 for the krana number, I meant for the various Krana, so A, B, C, et cetera are still appropriate. My comment was in reference to whether the krana and krana holder had the same design ID, which they do not. I believe it would still be appropriate here to have 42042A (or another as desired) for the Krana Su, with other letters for the other krana.

Why is this one numbered f ? F is letter number 6. Why is this mask number 6?
I like "Constraction Mask Krana Su" here, but how is that related to other masks?
Is it enough to only use "Constraction Mask ..." or do we need another qualifier, to make them different from other Constraction Masks?
I see that they are all called "Krana" at BL. Is that name used uniquely on these masks?
Is there somewhere a corresponding connector to where this connector will snap?
What should the other connector be called? They can't both be "Connector"

i dont have the part but they are officially stored here:
http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/x348
(that part also doesnt exist yet)
https://biosector01.com/wiki/Krana
https://bionicle.fandom.com/wiki/Krana
according to them, there are 8 different ones (in 12 colors).
it also looks like it can "snap" onto the 32553 (which also doesnt exist here)
but I dont have any of the kranas, so I cant check... (i only have the standard mask/head stuff)

Yes these do snap to the Toa Mata heads ("32553 Voodoo Head"). The peg is technically a regular stud, so does accept everything with an anti-stud (assuming it doesn't collide with anything else).
The eyes should also be identical across the 8 variants, closely encircling the transparent Toa eyes, when placed on those heads.

They are also meant to fit into 41673, but it just lays loosely inside that shell (part of the action feature).

All 8 Krana seem to share a common Design ID (presumably those were molded in the same tool).

The backsides of all 8 seem to share a few common geometries, but it's probably hard to reuse.

They came in 12 regular colours for the first year, then 6 pearl metallic ones for the second. There is also a vac-metallized promo version of the Xa (the default "mascot" version) as well as a solid sterling silver one, but those probably use an altered mold anyways. The 18 ones found in sets are made of soft rubber.

In promo stuff there was a pseudo-official numbering of them:
1 - Xa, 2 - Za, 3 - Vu, 4 - Ca, 5 - Yo, 6 - Ja, 7 - Su, 8 - Bo
So slightly sad Xa can't be 42042a :(

I'm also a bit in preference of "Bionicle Mask" rather than "Constraction Mask", especially since the old ones follow a fairly consistent connection system (while G2 Bionicle and Hero Factory have a different one).

If you need more info or photos from those early Bionicle years, let me know :)

For the Krana this could be difficult.

Even if TLG has some of them as left-over from the instruction making, I assume all will be Xa only.
And I am not aware of anyone having made custom ones that would be LDraw acceptable.

As long as Bionicle/Constraction/CCBS is not uniform in nomenclature (which in fact it currently is not), I am against dropping the "Bionicle" prefix for all G1 Kanohi/Krana parts.

We currently have official parts with "Bionicle" in the name. If any part at all needs to have that word in the name it's the masks.

This discussion has already happened. Bionicle => Contstraction is what is happening. The fact that we haven't recycled all the already official parts is irrelevant.
