More close to a formed cloth part in concept than a hose or a chain for sure. So I guess yes?

To my knowledge pre-formed hoses/strings/rubber bands/chains are not valid for the library anyways.

thats correct for the flex-elements with many uses, but this special net is (an can only get) formed in this special way.
So yes, its more like the capes or the sails.
But the rules also say: "In all cases, the final assembly will have a suffix of -fN. The default or "at-rest" position will always be -f1"
-> this part should be f2 then

That's basically the problem - if we stick to the words of that definition, sails and capes should follow that rule as well (which they currently don't do in most cases).

Am I missing a point here?

i think the "pre-formed hoses/strings/rubber bands/chains are not valid for the library" would rather apply to this:

The hose clearly - base part can theoretically be reduced to a "1 dimensional object". The stretcher thingy is quite weird... I'd argue the base part is more a 2-dimensional object rather than 1-dimensional, but I somewhat get your point.

What gives me a bit of a headache is the fact that the "-fx" nomenclature applies to both flexible parts (rubber, textiles, film hinge etc.) and hinge assemblies (pneumatic valves, track points).

Also I somewhat dislike the idea of giving a basepart a suffix if it's not absolutely necessary.
We already have a lot of "b variants" that only exist because of obsoleted "bad geometry".

for the 10x10 net: there could be something like static knots with 4 connections to flex segments (normal string)
but idk how to implement this...
the base -f1 is for "unflexed straight part" (most of them arent normally straight)
