Hi Gerald,

I think, there should be added 2 erings to avoid gaps around the axle hole when using primitive substitution:
1 16 0 0 10 0 0 6 6 0 0 0 -1 0 4-4ering.dat
1 16 0 0 -10 0 0 6 6 0 0 0 1 0 4-4ering.dat

And I submitted a subfile (s\89679s01.dat) without side, since there is at least one printed part of this one in 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3 (89679pt0.dat) where I used the subfile.
I already added the erings to the subfile. I needed to reduce the 3-4cyclo and 3-4ring2 primitives to 5-8 to get free space to include the printed pattern.

Please review the subfile and think about to reuse the subfile in this part as well.

may be we should remove

4 13 8.3151 3.4443 10 6.3639 6.3639 10 4.2426 4.2426 10 5.543 2.296 10
3 13 8.3151 3.4443 10 5.543 2.296 10 5.602 2 10
4 13 8.3151 3.4443 10 5.602 2 10 6 0 10 9 0 10
4 13 5.543 2.296 -10 4.2426 4.2426 -10 6.3639 6.3639 -10 8.3151 3.4443 -10
3 13 5.543 2.296 -10 8.3151 3.4443 -10 5.602 2 -10
4 13 6 0 -10 5.602 2 -10 8.3151 3.4443 -10 9 0 -10
plus some lines

from the s01 subfile, this would

A) help draw patterns as you require them

B) also help to add a fine curve in the plain part (add a 1-8 chrd etc)

I changed the subfile as suggested.

Now the main file could be reduced to:
1 16 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 s\89679s01.dat
1 16 0 0 -10 3 0 0 0 0 3 0 1 0 1-8ring2.dat
1 16 0 0 10 3 0 0 0 0 3 0 -1 0 1-8ring2.dat
1 16 0 0 10 9 0 0 0 0 9 0 -20 0 1-8cylo.dat
1 16 8.668 -4.279 0 -.332 0 0 -4.279 1 0 0 0 -10 rect2p.dat
1 16 7.3505 -12.7645 0 .9855 0 0 4.2065 1 0 0 0 10 rect2p.dat

Should use the subfile.

btw,
is there a way to find subfiles that are used in a patterned part, but is not used in the unpatterned version of the part?
IMHO it's bad practice to derive a new subfile from an existing part and then not update the file it came from.
