Upon further inspection, this part has a gold patterned outer over a base layer (tan in the only color currently available). Will update. See Bricklink for details:

Waite a minute, Are you saying that the entire outer surface is painted metallic gold?

I think both metallic painted parts and chrome plated parts have a solid, often white or tan, base part.
And we dont model that surface. The only exception I can think of is 6141p01.dat
