Left and right side mesh is not the same. But it might be? No good images to look at.

I have got the part, and I finally found it also...
The part is symmetric.
The groves on the hat are deeper and I would make the centre line a cond line and the sides as edges.

Anyone who have seen the mesh I started from know how bad it was. I appreciate any help I can get.
I still have to make halves, and replace the stud. Should be divided.

The mesh from was really bad indeed
but, wow, you pretty much nailed it, the top groves look very good now.
I would adapt the triangles as such:

I marked them pink because I flipped them back and forth, I then left some as is
