this part is a duplicate of official u9004c01.dat resp. u9004c02.dat

instead of duplicating existing official files, you should improve them.
otherwise this part library would become a hell of a mess.

Many of the plugs are inverted, and that makes it impossible to inline it in LDCad.

I am additionally frustrated that my original authorship of those files has been removed completely.
If a part gets improved over time, normally the original author is kept, and an entry to the !HISTORY section is added.
I do not understand why this was not done here.

this is another variant, different from your original one (these had errors)

errors normally are corrected *inside* an existing file.
duplication and obsoletization of an existing official part only is necessary for fundamental geometry changes.
is this the case here?
if yes, then CONSISTENTLY ALL priorly existing related files need to be obsoletized.

currently a messy mix exists now on the PT
https://library.ldraw.org/parts/list?tableSearch=electric+switch

it seems that SOME of my files were obsoletized, some not.

I just compared the old and new version of this file:

1 16 0 8 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 70028.dat
1 16 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 u9004c01.dat

Especially the electric plug positions are nearly identical.
The minor geometry adjustments all could have been done in my original file.
I cannot see a reason here why throwing away my original file should be necessary here.
(Of course as always: until proven otherwise.)
I feel offended by this rigorous throwaway of my previous efforts.

Healing suggestion:
* keep my original files
* put your corrected implementations into them
* keep original author
* add !HISTORY line for your work
* renumber as needed if official part numbers are known

there are two nearly complete sets of switches...
there is a review summary of them:
https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/summary/8
as you can see, some old parts got obsoleted due to bad shape or structure.

some parts also got their correct part numbers, so some of the u-numbers got obsolete

Let's go constructive and step-wise for this:
before DOING anything: let us agree whether obsoletization is necessary here or not.
Depending on that, more edits can follow. So: question to @kuramapika1 here:
WHAT is the geometry change that would break previous models? This needs to be stated. Only knowing that allows a decision whether
file obsoletization + duplication really is necessary here.

(our posts overlapped, sorry. I have to check that review summary page first.)

if there are different versions of these parts by LEGO historically,
then the part title needs to reflect that (Type 1) or (Early Version) or similar.
currently there is a mess of these files on the PT.

renumbering is fine, but my original authorship should be re-instantiated IMHO.

the outer geometry is the same
BUT
-there are two generations now
-parts got their real numbers
-more detailed internals (still some things missing)
-errors got corrected
-parts structure got corrected (top + contacts got separated from the base)

that one isnt your part, it got fully modeled by kuramapika, so it is his part!
same for the subparts here: fully modeled by kuramapika!
but you are right in 1 thing: the types need to get differentiated

No, it was modeled by ME. I am the original author.
HE did a geometry correction. That belongs into the !HISTORY line.
Also, kicking out all !HISTORY from the (already long years official!) files is not fairplay.
I will now stop posting here to let my anger settle for a day or two.

Steffen,
Please read the explanation I tried to give in the forum here:
https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-27792-post-55244.html#pid55244

The decition to obsolete your parts is mine. It was hard, but necessary.
I tried to reach out to you, but since I didn't hear anythin I moved ahead.

Please lift your hold votes, and give the parts a review instead.

To not create too much hassle here, I retract my hold vote and let you proceed as you think reasonable.
I am ok with you taking over authorship from my file, obsoletizing my previous implementation, renumbering and creating 2 variants.
However, I think that the decision to obsoletize my previous version was wrong, as the geometry has not incompatibly changed. The proper way would have
been to simply add details and document that with a !HISTORY line. That said, go ahead. I myself currently have no time+energy to spend here.
