I got the part and it is hard to tell, I have to ask more opinions.
The plastic is tan, but the final colour (IMHO tan) is printed over a reddish brown base print, that all plays into the final appearance of the colour

I guess this show how Lego intended it to look at least. If the ears are tan then it for sure was not meant to be tan on the eyes as seen here.
