The coloured bricks use 3 different numbers.
102723 = set 76429, Sorting hat
109006 = set 10334, Retro radio
112444 = set 10358, Transformers Soundwave. (if Rebrickable is correct)

Why should we use 102723 on all of these bricks?

What makes the part different is on the one hand the combinations of colours which we cater for with the pxx number but also the different sound it plays...

so from the outside it looks like the same thing, but has different SW inside.

Numbering it with the "correct" number would make it difficult to search for the coloured assemblies.

ANother approach could be the number of the bottom 3677 and use the element id in the keywords? BL is handling it like that

I think it's the simplest scheme, but feel free to renumber as you feel is right. The purist way would be to create 102723, 102723p01, 109006, 109006p01, 112444 and 112444p01, but it's clumsy and confusing.

Yes use keywords or another option could be to use aliases
e.g. rename 102723 as 3677c01, 102723p01 as 3677c01p01, 102723p02 as 3677c01p02, 102723p03 as 3677c01p03
and have 102723 alias of 3677c01p01, 109006 alias of 3677c01p02 and 112444 alias of 3677c01p03

Think it would be wrong to make alias files. Those numbers are designID, including hardcoded coloured parts, and sound.
And that takes us all the way to Shortcut Physical_Colour.

But 3677c01p01-p03, and having the numbers as keyword, is good.

I agree with Magnus, partc01+kw is perfect, no alias needed.
