This is the second variant for 973p01. Since 973p11 is obsolete, I'm claiming it's pattern code for this assembly.

Was the choice of name for this part really good?
This part uses the same torso as part 76382p01. Wouldn't it have made more sense to leave the identifier for the torso the same and add e.g. c02? The two torsos would then be called 76382p01c01 (76382p01) and 76382p01c02 (76382p11).
From my point of view, this procedure would be the same as the procedure for short cuts with color variants.

This is a distinct pattern and needs it's own number. Also, adding "cXX" breaks the the consistency of naming.

I don't understand your statement.
You say that it is a separate pattern, but in the file the torso 931p01 is used both times.
The extension “cXX” breaks the consistency of the naming.
What about the friends torsos like 92241p07c01, 92241p0bc01, 92241p23c01 and others. These are official parts.
With the extension “cXX” I understand an identification of a variant that has a color difference, such as the color of the arms.

76382 is the number for the entire assembly. This means that the hands, arms, and torso contribute to the "pattern". The fact that the torso pattern is the same is irrelevant since there is a distinct difference in "pattern" (red arms) from the other one (blue arms). We do the same thing with the dual mold parts.
As to the "cXX" issue. If we add "c01/c02" to these parts then we have to go back and add "c01" to all the other parts. The same torso being used with different arms/hands is much rarer than a one-off torso/hand/arm combo.

I understand. If it were defined that the upper body 76382 would be extended with “cXX”, then many parts would get this addition, although there would never be a variant.
If this extension were only applied to the upper bodies for which there were variants, the consistency of the naming would be disturbed because there would be upper bodies with and without the extension “cXX” in the naming.
