Thanks Gerald! Most helpful comments.
Also included Jeff's request for keywords.
I finally solved the annoying dot at the end of the horizontal cylinders. It was a superposition of the conditional edge of the bottom stud and the centre of a 2-4disc embedded in the 2-4cylc. I solved the first by removing a hidden section of the outer wall of the bottom stud and the second by swapping the 2-4disc for a 2-4chrd.

Imho the simplest solution to avoid the stud tube to bleed into grid bar cavity is to make this one a tad shorter, something like
1 16 0 7 23.5 7 0 0 0 0 7 0 -23.5 0 2-4cylo.dat
This way you can still use a standard stud8...

the edgelines dont match the antistud surface (how did you get them? LDPE Isecalc?)

Yes, indeed. I did try the simple solution first. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that it didn't solve the issue with the bleed. Now that I've discovered the other cause, I could go back to the simple solution. Will do, soon.
The edge lines along the antistud cylinder were obtained by hand. My experience is that whenever the mathematically correct coordinates are used, the line tend to disappear into the cylinder. To prevent that from happening, I deliberately placed the line about 0.1 LDU outside the cylinder wall. Is there another way?

In LDPE select 2 (or more) intersecting surfaces and use the tool Isecalc. This will give you the wanted edge lines.

* I prefer the cascade of subs vice versa, where s03 is included in s02 and s02 in s01.

OK. I can adopt that. However, existing work not to be edited for this purpose alone.

Added help for placement of trap door.
Reordered subpart numbering. Now s02 is used in s01 and main part uses s01.
Removed T-junctions visible from top (originally in 51705s02, now in s01).
Header edit in smaller subpart (originally s01, now s02)
