It might be time to rework 1871 and 4045.

to also use 1-8 sphere prims? yes

sorted the code, rotated the stud

I am not entriely certain that 1871 and 4045 should use prims on their outside.
Seen as a stand alone part, yes
Seen as a donor for a stickered part, no
-> due to Prim subst the enhanced surface would bleed into the sticker, which is not subject to prim substitution

but spherical parts rarely get stickered...

I agree with René, no stickers on spherical parts!

...also note (for stickered cylinders) that top surface of sticker can be made hires (even if brick cylinder is normal res) to avoid bleeding of brick through sticker.

Both 1871 and 4045 are used printed, and they might look better.
OTOH, printed parts don't change shape in hi-res.

the rotated prims in the cutout will always cause gaps, hard to avoid.

Not happy about the height of the origin (top of part instead of base of topmost stud group), but it seems other similar parts have the origin at this height.
