I know it's wrong, but the instructions and box show the sticker to be applied upside down. I am not entirely sure how to handle this here.

I think it's upside down. They should point up, towards the mail slot. Both box art, and the both BI show this.
Where do you see them positioned like this?

It's never shown this way in any official material I know of. It's just that usually the Blacktron logo points downwards, which many people mentioned back when it was released.

But ok, I guess there's no point in disagreeing with the instructions here.

I see.
The older sets have them pointing down, but the newer sets pointing up.
