do the 5mm Duplo hoses fit? (these arent done yet)
that depends on the standard viewing perspective: what is front, slope or clips? usage is mostly sideways...

The gauges present an additional challenge. Will deal with later (as in not today, maybe tomorrow). The part will be rotated.

The important point right now is the size of the grips. The grips on the physical part are a tiny bit smaller than a regular Duplo figure hand and do not have the strong snap feature of a regular hand. Some of the Duplo hoses are rubbery with a beads-on-a-string type of profile and would fit well to the 6 LDU radius previously modeled. Utensils can also be placed into the grips, but the fit is very tight. There are very few utensils modeled. Antennae (51708 and 31925), fences (12602 and 2214), and doors (18816 and 98459) have radius 6 LDU while the only real utensil I found (58086) has radius 6.25 LDU. These parts should be the same size and fit well with physical Duplo hands. The child hand (47198) and the adult hands (47380 and 47389) have radius 6.5 LDU. While it is not exactly meant for it, I can increase the radius to 6.25 on this part to accommodate utensils also in the digital world.

Changed grip radius to 6.25 to accommodate utensils and 5 mm Duplo hoses. Modeled gauge bases and rotated part to show them. Implemented embossing as lines on surface, i.e. no 3D depth. Embossing depth can be added, but with much increased number of lines.

Add an edge line between the inner and outershape.
Lift/move that line by .25 ldu.
Add surfaces, remove the added edgelines, and slap some condlines on it.

Added 3D embossing. The second subfile could still be inlined into the main file. However, this way makes it easier to edit out for personal use.
The approach suggested by [MagFors] doesn't work because the embossing goes into the surface, not protruding out of it. The surface behind the pattern must be broken into pieces and this adds a lot of quads and triangles.
Adding ndis:es around the gauges doesn't cut down the total amount of quads as the ndis:es contain a lot of triangles and many are needed to fill up the areas in between. All it would do is to introduce new nodes that are not connected to any edge line.
