The subfile is unlikely to be reused anywhere else. The subfile would be repeated eight times if inlined. Having a subfile here saves a lot of lines.
The part has no studs. Chosen top of part for origin. Could easily have been bottom as well.

has to be on the same level as the ring. If the two subs are of different height you cannot reuse it on top and bottom.
