rework (the arm subfile 2609s02 doesnt fit yet, it has to be fixed)

should this include the small reinfocements on the inside of the arms?

The arm sub-file should be the same across 2609a, 2609c and this I'd say - geometry on the real parts is perfectly identical.

And yes - please include the reinforcements, they are even in LDD.

thanks for the reminder of the LDD part...
used the DB part to copy the reinforcements from there.
should it get subfiled in half?

* The clip is identical to 2609a (which has to be corrected first).

yes I know that the subfile is now wrong, but that isnt mine and ejboer is active
even the LDD data shows the arms at 5x18LDU

no, the arm subfile in question here is 2609s02, that part isnt mine and the author is active (not online today but was recently)
already slapped a hold on it with the correct dimensions

arm subpart is corrected, should I add shortcuts with magnet?

If this is a new version made because 2607 is incorrect, I think the old history should be removed.
And you will be the author of this file.

I question the position of the rotation point of the magnet and the size of the magnet.
When assembled in LDD they line up prefectly, 80 ldu apart, and the magnets touch.

LDD data isnt 100% correct...
i measured my assemblies and they are all at 19.8mm (39.5 LDU)
(ok there might be play)
also, the single part is 18.4mm (46 LDU)
should I upload the assemblies as shortcuts?
guess you are correct with the header.

sorry, typo: magnet sideways 19.8mm (49.5 LDU), two holders with magnets facing each other 39.6 (99 LDU)
magnets stacked: 32.6mm (81.5 LDU) across both holders
-> looks like the position now is correct

I tend to say Magnus is right.
Tested it with 2 real ones and the magnets touch seemingly perfect when the holders are placed 5 studs away.

looks like there is both play in the magnet-holder joint as in the magnet-ring joint (the magnet seems to slide a bit)

Yes; I noticed the slide in the ring too. Also almost all my magnets seem to be longer than the plastic ring, which is also reflected in LDD.

took ownership, removed the old history
also made the arms 0.5 LDU longer, the contact point is now at exactly 40LDU

"Also almost all my magnets seem to be longer than the plastic ring"
-> should I make the housing thinner? the magnet should stay at L17.5, the housing could go down to 17
