Not sure if all those Help lines are needed.

Does this require a shortcut?

Not entirely sure about the prim usage on the front stud either, but using a direct stud prim will likely break the geometry.

Should the ridges at the back be sub-filed?

could use chrd+cyli and aforementioned motorcycle helmet subfile

The only part from 30124b.dat that comes close, is 30124bs02.dat and that doesn't match that one's geometry either. The visor dimples aren't as equal as it seems. The hose requires the visor to be slightly higher.

Since nothing in back area is exactly rectangular, I wouldn't want to use prims here due to rounding errors.

I think this should work:

Note the stud2a ia mirrored, I mirrored the oppisite stud and moved it by 40 LDUon its axis.

If it is doen as suggested, snapping would work without additional efforts

Remember looking into this one when I was working on 30124b.
Very similar, but different.

The only objection I have to this one, is that the inside should be adapted to the 16-sided standard head.
And maybe even a hi-res head, around the face.
