should the bottom edge be inlined? and the bottom ring replaced with a tang and then filled with triangles? (or would inlined ring be ok?)
because as of now the bottom ring+edge may get substituted, which results in a "floating" edge

Yes, it needs to be inlined due to primitive substitution. I wish there was a meta that prevented primitive substitution!
