Yes, that is how we should do, but it would not be an alias. 32198 should be a Moved to 32198a.
It would be better to make a common subfile, to be used by both versions, and then only add what is different in the a and b-files.

I dont like the addition of the ring prim without additional adapter prims inside/outside...

I would suggest to create this new one as default, rename 32198.dat to 32198a.dat and create an alias of 32198.dat pointing to the new one.
How do you think?
