I dont think the old pulley was that bad, yours looks rather complicated... (also has lots of decimals on the prims, which causes rounding errors)
the 2-4cylc at the top/bottom of the handle causes a bit of t-juncs, try 2-4chrde+2-4cyli+4-4cyli

My apologies. I saw the 'needs work' in the header and I thought I could help. Since I had reworked this part from scratch I was unaware of the proper method for giving attribution to the original author. If I am not allowed to rework this part so heavily, please feel free to delete it.

Much better, can you still create a common subpart out of this for the version without the center indent?
should the rear section of the torus get 1-8tndis instead of connecting the quads directly?
